  2. FREE-Bus Fare Days during Thanksgiving Week

    November 24 - November 28

    To show appreciation for another great year of serving Northwest Arkansas, Ozark Regional Transit (ORT) is offering free-fare days for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday. Bus fare for all Fixed Route Transit buses will be free of charge the week of Thanksgiving (November 24-26 and November 28, the day after Thanksgiving). ORT fixed routes service multiple shopping areas including Frisco Station Mall, Harp's Stores, Northwest Arkansas Mall, The Promenade Mall and Walmart. Local businesses in the smaller communities of Farmington, Greenland, Johnson, Lincoln, Prairie Grove and West Fork are also serviced by recently added bus routes. Free fare applies to ORT's Fixed Route Service only. Curb-to-Curb Service via our Demand-Response and Paratransit minivans, will remain at their current fare rates.     Join us at Pinnacle Country Club on Thanksgiving morning for the 7th Annual Turkey Trot & Strut sponsored by Dr. Jeremy Smith Family Orthodontics! Race, Run or Walk 2.5 miles or the full 5 miles around the Pinnacle Golf Course. Long-sleeve t-shirts and goody bags will be guaranteed to each participant who enters by Nov. 17. All proceeds benefit The Pinnacle Country Club Angel Tree, The Samaritan House and the NWA Children's Advocacy. All non-Pinnacle Members must register by Tuesday, November 25th. Registration WILL NOT be available on Race-Day.

The first 400 runners & Wild Gobblers will receive a 2014 NWA Turkey Trot t-shirt and gift bag filled with great items from our sponsors.

    Local community members looking for a place to celebrate Thanksgiving are invited to attend CARE Community Center, Inc.’s free Thanksgiving meal. The complimentary dinner is open to the public. Founded by John and Nicole Chervenyak in 2010, the Thanksgiving dinner event is aimed to offer a meal to those who would otherwise go without on Thanksgiving. Guests can expect traditional Thanksgiving fare with a few surprises as well. “This is not your typical Thanksgiving dinner,” shared John Chervenyak, executive chef. “We provide all the traditional Thanksgiving items but also some unexpected items such as fried cauliflower, homemade soups, trout, and homemade tomato sauce with spaghetti and meatballs. This year we have more local chefs involved so everyone is in for a treat.”

    Join your interpretive guide for an Eagle Cruise. Investigate for signs of eagles as we tour the Van winkle arm of the lake, one of the last undeveloped areas of the lake. Tours depart from Rocky Branch Marina. Please dress for the weather. Lifejackets are provided and must be worn at all times. Registration and pre-payment required.   10. Holiday Hoopla Kick-off

    This family-friendly event will begin at 5 p.m. features Christmas carols, dance performances and thousands of Christmas lights. The evening's special guest, Santa Claus, will arrive just in time to help Mayor Hines light the tree, but how Santa arrives at the stage will be a surprise for everyone! Free admission.
